Close Rendezvous

Close Rendezvous
As hard as I cling to a present
That's shown to be mostly untrue
Few moments ever get as pleasant
Going to a close rendezvous

Enveloped in happy affections
And sporting a rosier hue
Abundant are the quaint reflections
Coming through a close rendezvous
Could find it brings the mind to
Places bright and new
Fast falling, mystic calling

The way to the meeting abided
And wanting to boast of the view
A destiny has been decided
Resting on a close rendezvous

(Solo.)

Could be that she can't see the
Dazzling displays
Or heed speech aglow with praise
Suspicious if capricious
Not much more than just a whimsical phase
Only let me count the ways

With many things left to discover
Besides what you've chosen to do
The mystery will lead wherever
The people watching won't have a clue
We'll find a moment like no other
Shining from a close rendezvous
